Fill the boot

I want to thank the Brainerd lakes area community for supporting the MDA Fill the Boot campaign hosted by the Brainerd Fire Department. Special thanks goes out to the Brainerd Dispatch, 3WI radio, Walgreens, Lakeland News, Brainerd Community Action and especially the community who have supported Brainerd Fire Dept and the MDA and who continue to support us in our efforts to raise money to help fight this terrible disease. All of the money stays local and helps to fund week long camps and equipment to those families who can’t afford it.

Brainerd Memorial Day Committee

The Brainerd Area Memorial Day Committee would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who came forward and made this year’s program run smoothly.

The Boy Scouts Troops 45 and 36 were there to help with putting out all the flags and pass out the programs. Troop 43 helped take down all the flags on the fence on Monday evening. Girl Scout Troop 852 also helped with the programs and escorted the Gold Star parents.

We would also like to extend a special thank you to Mark Persons for stepping up on Monday morning to make sure we had a PA system. He also spent Friday morning at Evergreen Cemetery looking for the flag holders that are underground and was there on Monday evening.

Special thank you also to the Jeff Beach family and Ann Carlson’s family for being there and helping with anything that needed to be done.

There were six people who came out on Tuesday morning to take the flags inside the cemetery down. Those people were Mr. and Mrs. Bill Bailey, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Burton, Pat Parker and Heidi Kramer. If we have missed anyone, we apologize. There were so many people that it was hard to learn everyone’s name.

Finally, we would like to say thank you to the men at the National Guard Armory for all their help. You were gracious and the help with hauling our equipment is greatly appreciated.

We are so appreciative for everyone who was there to help in anyway.

VFW Buddy Poppies

The VFW Post No. 1647 and Auxiliary wish to say thank you to each and every person who donated to our members promoting the VFW Buddy Poppies. Even though the economy is not the best, most everyone donated.

Because of the donations, we can continue to help our veterans and families. These donations are used for veterans and their families in our local area.

Thanks to the business for allowing our VFW Post and Auxiliary to make it a successful promotion. Thank you to the Boy Scouts and our VFW Post and Auxiliary.
