Brainerd, Deerwood receive DEED grants

Brainerd and Deerwood were among 32 Minnesota communities in outstate Minnesota that received grants to help pay for rehabilitating housing and commercial structures and improving infrastructure.
The Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) announced that Brainerd received $715,000 for owner-occupied housing and commercial building rehabilitation and Deerwood received $295,200 for owner-occupied housing rehabilitation.
The grants were awarded under DEED’s Small Cities Development Program, a federally funded initiative that seeks to benefit people of low and moderate incomes.
