Waiting for a Mentor: Boys just want to go fishing

School is done for the year and kids of all ages are longingly watching the weather and asking “when will the rain stop so we can go fishing?”

Yes, Minnesota summer is here and so is the rain, but a lot of kids aren’t wondering if the sun will come out. They are wondering if someone will come to the rescue, bring some fun into their lives and step up to be their Kinship Partner.

In the Brainerd lakes area, we now have 15 boys between the age of 5 and 11 waiting for a Kinship Partner mentor. Although they desire a male influence in their lives, couples and families are also welcome matches for them.

Would you like to begin making lifelong memories this summer and turn them into a relationship with lasting impact? There are boys right now, waiting by the window, wondering when you are going to show up and make it happen.

Load up the truck or pack up the car, make the sandwiches, stop quick to get the minnows and let’s get moving! There is a child waiting to change your life.

Mentors are ordinary people, doing ordinary things with extraordinary results. We provide the support, structure and supervision needed to make sure everyone experiences a safe and positive relationship. You only need to be yourself – a caring adult, willing to spend time with a child who needs a role model.
