Little Falls couple's death ruled a murder/suicide

LITTLE FALLS — The deaths of Cynthia and Richard Lakeman, who were found dead Feb. 23 in a Little Falls Township home, has been ruled a murder/suicide, reported the Morrison County Sheriff’s Office.

The Ramsey County Medical Examiner found Cynthia Lakeman, 45, was the victim of homicide after being shot in the head. The manner of death for Richard Lakeman, 75, was more difficult to determine, due to the need to send specific samples out of the state of Minnesota for laboratory analysis. The medical examiner’s office recently notified Morrison County Sheriff Michel Wetzel that although the manner of death for Richard Lakeman will be considered undetermined, gunshot residue present on both hands strongly suggests suicide. As a result, the sheriff’s office has concluded the investigation and classified it as a murder/suicide.
