Victim of single car crash in Manhattan Beach ID'd

The victim of a single car crash that took place sometime during the weekend was identified Tuesday as Carl Stromberg, 34, Pine River.

The Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office said it and the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office is continuing to investigate the incident.

According to the sheriff’s department, at about 4:30 p.m. Sunday deputies responded to a single car crash fatality on Goldenstein Road, north of County Road 1 in Manhattan Beach. The crash, which was difficult to see from the roadway due to trees and brush, appeared to have occurred during the late night/early morning hours. The crash was found by a passing motorist who noticed tire tracks leaving the roadway and entering into a farm field, which led to the car crash being found.

The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. The victim was the only occupant in the car and was wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash. The victim’s body was sent to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the cause of death.

Assisting with the investigation and at the scene was the Minnesota State Patrol. Also assisting at the scene was the Crosslake Police Department and the Crosslake Fire Department.
