Overview meeting set for Thursday on Camp Ripley Veterans State Trail

■ Upcoming events at Mille Lacs Kathio State Park

An “I can Fish! Let’s Go Fishing” event is scheduled from 3-5 p.m. Friday at Mille Lacs Kathio State Park.

The event will focus on all aspects of fishing, including identifying species to casting and more.

The park will provide the poles, bait and instructors. Minnesota residents do not need a fishing license for this activity. To join the event, meet at the Interpretive Center. Fishing will last until 4:30 p.m. and then finish up back at the Interpretive Center by 5 p.m.

At 7 p.m. Friday the park will host “The Ultimate Guide to Snakes.” A brief talk about snakes of the Kathio area will be followed by a nature film about snakes around the world. Meet at the Interpretive Center. The event is expected to last about 40 minutes.

■ Overview meeting set for Thursday on Camp Ripley Veterans State Trail

An informational meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Baxter City Hall to bring the public up to date on the current state of the Camp Ripley Veterans State Trail.

This will be an informal question-and-answer meeting to explain what has been done by the Veteran’s Trail Committee and what needs to done to make the multi-use trail a reality.
