The Minnesota State Patrol reported Thursday that alcohol was not involved in a crash in which three people were injured Nov. 8 on Highway 371, south of Walker in Cass County.
The state patrol originally reported that alcohol was detected in Steven K. Merritt, 42, Hackensack’s body. Merritt was driving south on Highway 371 and lost control on the icy road. Merritt’s Dodge Intrepid slid into the path of a Chrysler minivan traveling north on the highway.
Merritt was transported to Brainerd and then airlifted to Hennepin County Medical Center with critical injuries.
The other driver was not injured and two passengers in the vehicle suffered non life-threatening injuries.
■ House burning training scheduled
The Brainerd Fire Department along with Fire Instruction Rescue Education (FIRE) will conduct a training exercise from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday.
The exercise will be to burn a house on the 100 block of First Avenue Northeast in Brainerd.
Firefighters will practice all types of fire training and rescue.
