MnDOT issues travel advisory for Stearns County

The Minnesota Department of Transportation advised motorists on Friday to drive with caution in west central Minnesota, including Stearns County and surrounding areas, due to blowing snow and scattered slippery spots. The advisory was issued at 3:45 p.m. Friday.

Most roads in the region currently were in fair driving condition, but motorists should be aware that conditions could change quickly.

Officials do not anticipate any interstate or highway closures at this time; however, motorists may encounter brief lane and road closures where crashes occur.

Motorists should check road conditions at before travelling and slow down to a safe speed for current conditions. Due to quickly changing conditions, cruise control should also be turned off even if roads appear to be clear.
