Five teens injured in minor crash

BAXTER — Five teenagers suffered minor injuries Wednesday when the passenger car they were in failed to yield for a trailblazer crossing Highway 371 from College Road in Baxter, reported the Minnesota State Patrol.

Michael J. Anderson, 37, Brainerd, was westbound on College Road, when Kerstin Martin, 16, Baxter, traveling eastbound on Glory Road, failed to signal to turn north on Highway 371, the state patrol said. Anderson’s trailblazer then crashed into Martin’s car.

Anderson was not injured and the five teenagers were all taken to Essentia Health-St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Brainerd for non-life threatening injuries.

The hospital had no condition information regarding Martin and Kayleigh Haynes, 16. The other teenagers: Kailey Cordes, 16, Jayden Tuorila, 15, and Halley Cordes, 16, were all treated and released.

The Baxter Police Department assisted the state patrol with the crash that was reported at 7:20 p.m.
