Structure fire contained, minimal damage

The Pierz Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 6:45 a.m. Tuesday near the intersection of Sleepy Hollow Road and Crow Wing County Road 45.

Fire Chief Brian Boser said the fire appeared to have been started by a wood stove in the home on 4926 County Road 45. Boser said the fire spread into the walls and then into the attic.

“We knocked it down quickly and everything is good,” said Boser.

Boser said the smoke detectors were working and the resident in the home called 911.

There were a dozen firefighters on scene until around 8 a.m.

Boser said the home was not a total loss, but there was minimal damage of around $1,000-2,000.

“The home is still livable,” he said.
