Embarrass woman found dead outside

EMBARRASS, Minn. -- A 54-year-old Embarrass woman was found dead Tuesday morning.

The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call at 1:40 a.m. about an unresponsive woman lying on the ground in a driveway in Embarrass.

Julie Janice Juniel, 54, was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said in a statement that they do not believe this was the result of violence.

“We don’t think it’s a criminal incident; we believe Juniel suffered from a medical issue,” sheriff’s Lt. Ed Kippley said. “The woman wasn’t dressed for the subzero weather. She looked impaired, so we are guessing she went outside and fell. We are just waiting on the results.”

The cause of death is being investigated by the sheriff’s office and the St. Louis County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Babbitt Ambulance, Embarrass First Responders and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension assisted at the scene.
