The board also set a special meeting for 10 a.m. Jan. 31 at Leech Lake Band Government Center, 190 Sailstar Dr., Cass Lake, with the Leech Lake Tribal Council.
Commissioners and council members will tour the new tribal government building, followed by a meeting and lunch.
Topics on the agenda for that meeting include roads and trails, human services, environmental service wastewater planning and county septic system zoning standards, land management and increases in county jail population.
The board and council also will discuss a proposed draft agreement between the county and band, which is designed to improve communications and staff cooperation between the county and band. It calls for the county board and tribal council to meet two times each year to discuss their activities.
Focus areas for the cooperation are natural resource management and economic development.
It has been about four years since the county board last met with the tribal council, according to Administrator Robert Yochum.
