Coon Rapids woman killed in I-35 rollover

PINE CITY - An 82-year-old Coon Rapids woman was killed Thursday morning in a rollover crash on an icy Interstate 35 in Pine County, the Minnesota State Patrol reported.

Shirley A. Schultz was a passenger in a 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche that lost control in the northbound lanes of the interstate near Pine City and rolled into the median just before 8:30 a.m. The driver, Carl J. Schultz, 49, of Coon Rapids, was being treated for non-life-threatening injuries at Essentia Health in Sandstone.

Both occupants of the vehicle were wearing seat belts, the patrol reported.

The patrol was assisted by the Pine County Sheriff’s Office.
