Four area girls to compete in Miss U.S. pageant
Four area girls will compete on Saturday at the Miss Minnesota United States Pageant. Competing for the title of Miss Jr Teen Minnesota United States is Hannah Northburg, Miss Jr Teen Brainerd United States 2013. Hannah is the daughter of Jennifer Northburg-Schwartz. She is currently a sophomore at Alternative Education Center in Brainerd. Competing for the title of Miss Teen Minnesota United States is Rebecca Schreurs, Miss Teen Brainerd United States 2013. Rebecca is the daughter of Scott Hornby and Michele Schreurs. She is currently a senior at Brainerd High School and is also attending Central Lakes College as a Post-Secondary Enrollment Option student. Competing for the title of Miss Minnesota United States is Jackie Thurlow, Miss Brainerd United States 2013 and Sarah Mozey, Miss Merrifield United States 2013. Jackie is the daughter of Mimi and the late Scott Mike Thurlow and she is currently a junior at Minnesota State University-Mankato, where she is majoring in community health and minoring in nonprofit leadership. Sarah is the daughter of David and Christine Mozey and is currently employed at Costco in Baxter.
The girls are scheduled to arrive on Thursday, Feb. 20, to check in, with a hospitality event scheduled at the Crowne Plaza Riverfront in St Paul. At 7 p.m. Friday, the girls will take part in a Runway/Modeling Show Competition. The competition is open to the public and will take place at the Crowne Plaza Riverfront, St Paul in the Kellogg I & II rooms. Tickets to the runway show are $15 and may be purchased at the event. The pageant will take place at 7 p.m. Saturday, at the Historic Landmark Center in St Paul. Tickets are $35 and $45 and may be purchased at the pageant. The winning titleholders from the Miss Minnesota United States Pageant will then advance to the national Miss United States Pageant, to be held over the Fourth of July in Washington D.C.
