Woman found dead in Motley

MOTLEY — A 36-year-old Staples woman was found dead Tuesday in the snow near the Country Terrace Apartments in Motley.

Morrison County Sheriff Michel Wetzel said deputies and the Motley Police Department discovered the body, identified as Anna Eakle, at 8:45 a.m.

Motley Police Chief Brian Madison said the woman’s entire body was frozen, except the core part of her body. According to the National Weather Service, the windchill just after 8 a.m. was 29 below zero.

The woman was last seen by a railroad worker who saw her around 4:40 a.m.

“The railroad worker said the woman didn’t seem right,” said Madison. “The woman was not dressed appropriately for the weather. She was wearing a sweatshirt, jeans and tennis shoes.”

The woman was found in the dog exercise area by a resident who was walking her dog.

Her body was transported to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy to discover the exact cause of death.

Wetzel said there is no immediate indication of foul play, nor should there be any reason for the residents of Motley to be fearful.

The sheriff’s office and Motley police are investigating.
