Well freezes at Nisswa school, causes disruption

NISSWA — A frozen well caused a disruption at Nisswa Elementary School Monday.

An engineer found the problem at the beginning of the day. A temporary well was installed and water was running again at 3:10 p.m. Monday.

Until the fix, however, school officials had to make a few adjustments.

Jugs of drinking water were delivered to every classroom. Three coach buses were parked curb-side for toilet use and another bus drove classes to the Nisswa Chamber restrooms. Disposable dishes were used at breakfast and lunch. Hand sanitizers were placed throughout the building.

As crews worked to fix the problem, parent pick-up areas were tightened and buses were staged on Lakers Lane for loading.
