Mille Lacs Polar Bear Plunge is Saturday

The third annual Polar Bear Plunge on Mille Lacs Lake, benefiting Special Olympics Minnesota and sponsored by Grand Casino Mille Lacs is Saturday.

This is a family-friendly event. People from all ages are invited to come and enjoy the festivities. There will be face painting, polar games, and concessions. Those who aren’t taking the plunge, may watch from the sidelines (or what Special Olympics Minnesota calls “Chicken Row”).

Approximately 250 plungers will jump into Mille Lacs Lake to raise money for Special Olympics Minnesota. Participants are invited to wear crazy costumes or funny hats as they jump into the frozen lake.

Registration begins at 11 a.m. Saturday and plunging begins at 1 p.m.

The plunging takes place at the shore in front of Eddy’s Lake Mille Lacs Resort Marina, 41334 Shakopee Lake Road, Onamia, Parking is available on site.
