BHS Mock Trial team places 10th

The Brainerd High School (BHS) Mock Trial team took 10th place last week in the Minnesota High School Mock Trial Program’s state competition in Duluth.

Twelve high school teams competed and included Brainerd, Pequot Lakes, Buffalo, St. Michael-Albertville, Lakeview, St. Peter, Northfield, Nova Classical Academy, Stillwater Area, Lakeville North, Lakeville South and Breck.

BHS Mock Trial Coach Jan Carlson said Brainerd team member Yuki Hirai won the best lawyer award for the team and Megan Franzen won the best witness.

“The team did an awesome job,” said Carlson. “We competed in three trials, and four of our team members scored 10 out of 10 in one of our trials. It was a great experience.”
