Crow Wing property tax statements mailed

Crow Wing County property tax statements have been mailed, and property owners can expect to see their 2014 property tax statements in their mailboxes around Friday. March 28.

Again for 2014, property tax statements are being mailed with the annual notices of property valuation and classification which will indicate the value and classification that the 2015 property taxes will be calculated against. Laureen Borden, county auditor-treasurer, stated “taxpayers will notice a three-step process outlined on their tax statement that helps to explain the overall understanding of how the property tax system works.” The 2014 property tax statement is “Step 3” of this year’s process, and the included notice of valuation and classification is “Step 1” of the 2015 process.

First half property taxes are due by May 15 for most property classifications. Taxpayers have a variety of payment options:

• In person at the auditor-treasurer’s office via cash, check, or debit/credit card

• By mail via check

• Online via e-check or debit/credit card at

Borden encouraged taxpayers to ensure payments arrive in a timely manner to avoid penalty fees. Payments must be postmarked before May 15 to be processed as timely, so taxpayers are urged to mail the payments at least three days before the due date.
