■ Early childhood screening offered

Is your child going to kindergarten in fall of 2014 or 2015? Children must be 5 by Sept. 1 of each year, in order to attend kindergarten.

Minnesota law requires children to have an early childhood screening before entering kindergarten. This is a free appointment that includes checking your child’s immunizations, growth, hearing and vision as well as skills in thinking, communication and language, large and small muscles and social/emotional development.

Kindergarten registration is also done at this time. This appointment is a help parents, children and the Brainerd School District so the district can be prepared for children when they enter kindergarten.

Appointments are available until the end of May. There are no other screenings before Sept. 3, when kindergarten begins for 2014.

Call 454-5430 at the Early Childhood Center to make an appointment.
