Fort Ripley man injured in broadside crash

LITTLE FALLS — A 56-year-old Fort Ripley man was seriously injured in a two-vehicle broadside crash reported at 8:44 p.m. Monday on Highway 371 and Morrison County Road 48, just north of Little Falls, reported the Minnesota State Patrol.

John Wieczorek was taken to St. Gabriel’s Hospital in Little Falls, where he was treated and then transferred to the St. Cloud Hospital. He was released from the hospital Tuesday.

Wieczorek was driving a Ford Escort eastbound on County Road 48. When Wieczorek crossed Highway 371, it was reported that a Dodge Ram, driven by John R. Beckman, 51, Hudson, Wis., hit the Ford broadside. Beckman was not injured.

Alcohol was detected in Wieczorek’s system, the state patrol said.

The Morrison County Sheriff’s Office assisted the state patrol on scene.
