District volunteer recognition banquet planned

The Elks Lodge of Brainerd, through its Americanism program, will recognize young men who attained the rank of Eagle Scout in 2013 during a district volunteer recognition banquet at 5:30 p.m. Saturday at First Lutheran Church in Brainerd.

The Boy Scouts of America, Central Minnesota Council, Pine Tree District, will honor Eric Smedsrud and James Cragun, both of Crosby; Kyler Drevelow of Aitkin; Andrew Doucette of Nisswa; Tyler Jensen of Baxter; Joseph Wells of Brainerd; and Zachary Simmonds, Justin McMillon and Dacotah Roskop, all of Fort Ripley.

District volunteers also will be honored, with special recognition given to Diane Buchite of Crosby, who has been elected for the Silver Beaver award. The Silver Beaver is the highest award a local Scout council can present to an adult Scouter.

Dinner will be served followed by a program.

Cost is $10 per person. All Eagle Scouts from 2013 will attend free.

I've worked at the Brainerd Dispatch with various duties since Dec. 7, 1983. Starting off as an Ad Designer and currently Director of Audience Development. The Dispatch has been an interesting and challenging place to work. I'm fortunate to have made many friends, both co-workers and customers.
