This session is for anyone planning on participating, considering participating or simply curious about what it is to be a vendor in the farmers’ and crafters’ market this summer.

All gardeners, farmers, bakers, canners, maple syrupers, honey gatherers and crafters are invited to attend.

The meeting will be at Hunt Utilities Group Campus located just west off Highway 371 on Cass County Road 2 in Pine River. Refreshments will be served.

It’s a time to meet other vendors, learn about market guidelines, options for participation, marketing techniques for your products and resources for learning more about the Minnesota Department of Agriculture requirements.

Most vendors are within 60 miles of Pine River to keep products as local as possible. However, if a particular vendor has something unique that is not now offered at the market, exceptions are made.

Vendors must have grown, raised, processed or made the product(s) they sell and have appropriate labeling per MDA requirements.

Guidelines and vendor applications are available at www.prmarketsquare.wordpress.com. The guidelines outline the process and expectations.

The market will run every Friday starting May 30 through Sept. 26, and, new this year, will include three Saturday, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. indoor markets: Oct. 11, Nov. 15, and Dec. 13, location to be determined. The Friday markets are located in downtown Pine River, three blocks east off Highway 371.

The Pine River Market Square is governed by a six member, elected board that meets monthly.

For further information about the market and to learn of updates of what products will be available each week during market season, visit www.prmarketsquare.wordpress.com, or call 218-838-6058.
