Road sweeping under way in Crow Wing County

The Crow Wing County Highway Department has begun the process of sweeping county state aid, county roads and roads in First Assessment in Unorganized Territory.

Motorists should be aware of slow moving sweepers and the possibility of dusty conditions on various roads throughout the county during the next few weeks. Driving with your headlights on, reducing your speed near the sweepers and not driving distracted will help enhance everyone’s roadway safety, the county reported.

Motorcycle enthusiasts should also be aware of sweeping operations. Motorcyclists should be mindful of areas that have not yet been swept. Loose sand from the winter’s snow and ice control can pose a hazard to motorcyclists. Awareness and care should be taken while riding motorcycles on all roads. Wearing a helmet, riding at safe speeds for the conditions and allowing extra time to stop at all intersections will enhance the motorcycle riding safety, the county reported.
