BEMIDJI - A Colorado man is accused of going on a drunken and destructive search for his uncle at a senior living facility in Bemidji -- an uncle who lives in Colorado.
Sean Foster Heideman, 25, of Centennial, Colo., faces a charge of first-degree damage to property in an occupied dwelling.
Police responded after a Windsong Catered Living resident reported a man banging on her patio door around 4:45 a.m. Saturday. Court documents say the glass door was shattered and that once the man was inside the apartment, he found the door leading to the rest of the facility and left.
Damage included a hallway window broken with a toilet tank cover, a window broken presumably when two coffee makers were thrown at the glass and broken flower pots.
Just after 5 a.m., police found Heideman intoxicated and walking in a ditch near Sanford Medical Center, according to the criminal complaint. He was arrested, and a breath test indicated a blood-alcohol level of 0.204, the complaint said.
According to court documents, Heideman said he remembered that he was visiting his uncle but told authorities his uncle lives in Colorado.
Heideman could face up to five years in prison and a $10,000 fine for causing damage in excess of $1,000.
