Music student on way from recital arrested on marijuana charges
FARGO – A Minnesota State University Moorhead music student was arrested last week after leaving a recital with intent to deal marijuana, authorities said.
According to charges filed Friday in Cass County District Court, West Fargo police Officer Ryan Denis pulled over Clyde David Schuman, 20, of Moorhead, Minn., about 9:30 p.m. April 10 for driving with a burned-out taillight.
Denis smelled marijuana and asked Schuman where he had been, according to the report. Schuman said he was coming from an orchestra recital.
During a search of the vehicle, Denis allegedly found a green duffle bag; four Mason jars, two of which were filled with marijuana; a scale; 17 marijuana pipes with drug residue; rolling papers; plastic baggies with marijuana and without; a glass bong; five Mason jars with marijuana residue; and a gas mask.
The items were seized, along with Schuman’s viola, and he was booked into the Cass County Jail.
Schuman was charged with one count of Class B felony possession of marijuana with intent to deliver, and one count each of possession of marijuana by a driver and possession of drug paraphernalia, both Class A misdemeanors.
Bail was set at $5,000. His next court appearance is set for May 14.
