The project will place new stations in the rural areas of Hubbard, Wadena, Morrison, Meeker, McLeod and Scott counties.

The new pump stations will use available capacity to ensure the reliability of the company’s pipeline system, the company said in a news release.

The system is the primary pipeline system supplying refineries that produce much of the transportation fuels used in Minnesota and the Upper Midwest.

The addition of the six pump stations and upgrades at existing stations will allow the pipeline, called Line 4, to operate at its original design capacity of 350,000 barrels of crude oil per day when needed. Line 4 currently transports about 165,000 barrels per day. No new pipeline will be installed in the project.
