Watkins woman killed in head-on crash in Pillager

PILLAGER – A 38-year-old Watkins woman was killed Saturday in a head-on crash on Highway 64 in Pillager, the Minnesota State Patrol reported.

Jackie Boulton was pronounced dead at the scene, the state patrol said.

It was reported that Jeffrey R. Grose, 43, of Shoreview was driving southbound on Highway 64, when his Ford truck crossed the center line and sidestruck a Chevrolet truck driven by Daron S. Burtzlaff, 48, St. Cloud. Grose’s truck then struck a Ford Ranger head-on, where Boulton was a passenger.

Grose and Boulton’s spouse, Michael F. Boulton, 35, of Watkins, who was driving, were seriously injured and were taken to Lakewood Hospital in Staples.

David B. Burtzlaff, 40, Clearwater, who was a passenger in Daron Burtzlaff’s truck was not injured.

The state patrol reported that alcohol was detected in Grose’s system.

The crash was reported at 1:58 p.m.

The Cass County Sheriff’s Office and Pillager Police Department assisted the state patrol on scene.
