One dead, three wounded in Mankato shooting

MANKATO — One person died and three others were injured in a shooting early Easter Sunday outside a Mankato events center.

Mankato police were called at 1:53 a.m. Sunday to the Kato Entertainment Center, which hosts receptions and other private parties.

Police found four people had been shot. The names of the shooting victims had not been released. Police said those wounded by gunfire sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to a Mankato hospital.

A man, Kim Tong Yik Doluony, 21, was arrested for carrying a pistol without a permit. A woman, Nyeyoup David Gach, 18, and another man, Dilang Nhial Dat, 20, were arrested for obstructing the legal process. All three were taken to the Blue Earth County Jail.

Police listed the last known address for Dat and Doluony as Omaha, Neb.; and Mankato for Gach.

The Makato Free Press reports the shooting took place as a gathering of a Sudanese student group from Minnesota State University-Mankato broke up.
