The Brainerd Dispatch in a story published Wednesday on Crow Wing County recycling incorrectly listed the amount of recycling and waste that was handled in 2012 and 2013; failed to specify when it was referring to household hazardous waste in one instance and omitted to note how long the county had met its recycling goal. Crow Wing County’s landfill took in 38,286 tons of waste in 2013 compared to 36,563 tons in 2012, at the same time 33,212 tons of waste was recycled in 2013 compared to 32,272 tons in 2012. The average amount of household hazardous waste brought to the landfill was 61 pounds per household in 2013 compared to 65 tons in 2013. The county, has exceeded its 35 percent goal for percentage of waste that’s recycled since 1996.
The Dispatch regrets the error.
