Morrison County Sheriff's Office receives protective vests
LITTLE FALLS — The Morrison County Sheriff’s Office will receive a bullet and stab protective vest for K-9 Benny, thanks to the efforts of Vested Interest in K-9’s Inc., a Massachusetts based nonprofit organization.
Vested Interest in K-9’s Inc. is a volunteer charity located in East Taunton, Mass., whose mission is to provide bullet and stab protective vests for law enforcement dogs throughout the United States. Each vest costs $950 and comes with a 5-year warranty.
Vested Interest in K-9’s Inc. has provided more than 580 law enforcement dogs with protective vests since their inception in August 2009. The vests have been donated in 38 states, including Alaska and Hawaii. K-9 Benny and his handler, Deputy Dan Rocheleau, have already received their vest; while K-9 Rocky and his handler, Deputy Dave Scherping, currently have their application submitted and are waiting to hear back from Vested Interest in K-9’s Inc.
