Lifeguard training required at public beaches

ST. PAUL - Gov. Mark Dayton signed into law Wednesday a bill establishing standards for lifeguards at public beaches.

The new law, which overwhelmingly passed the House and Senate, requires CPR training and lifeguard certification. The law applies to beaches run by local governments such as cities, but not the three state-owned beaches.
