Kindergartner brings gun to school, all students safe

BENSON — A kindergarten student brought a gun to a Benson elementary school Tuesday morning.

In a news release, Swift County Sheriff John Holtz said the sheriff’s office, Benson Police and Northside Elementary officials were notified of the situation just after 8 a.m.

Other students immediately told a teacher about the gun.

The firearm was immediately seized by staff and all students are safe and are continuing with their school day.
