Brainerd public library to offer free gardening classes

Brainerd Public Library to offer gardening class May 13

Master Gardener JoAnn Weaver will present Growing Great Vegetables noon to 1 p.m. Monday at the Brainerd Public Library. Learn how to grow a productive vegetable garden that provides delicious eating, a boost to a household budget and an attractive landscape. The class will cover basics of planning and planting a high-yield, Zone 3 vegetable garden.

The University of Minnesota Extension Crow Wing County Master Gardeners will offer free Master Gardener presentations at the Brainerd Public through December of 2014. Monthly presentations facilitated by certified university Extension Crow Wing County Master Gardeners will discuss subjects ranging from garden tools to gourds.

Master Gardeners are University of Minnesota-trained volunteers whose job is to educate the public about a variety of horticulture subjects using readily-available, up-to-date research-based information.

Master Gardening Jackie Froemming will present “Water Wisely: Recommended Practices” at noon June 10 at the library. For information on either class or to register by calling 829-5574.
