Deadline for rural poverty grants is June 30

The Initiative Foundation, in partnership with the Central Minnesota Community Foundation, is now accepting applications for a joint Rural Poverty Grants Program.

The online-only application deadline is June 30.

Areas served include the 14 counties of central Minnesota: Benton, Cass, Chisago, Crow Wing, Isanti, Kanabec, Mille Lacs, Morrison, Pine, Sherburne, Stearns, Todd, Wadena and Wright. Applicants must be 501(c)(3) nonprofits and local units of government.

Focus areas include: planning and/or implementation of projects or programs that address rural poverty; establish or supplement existing emergency and transitional activities that directly address specific and immediate poverty issues; assess community needs and assets and develop action plans. Applicants are encouraged to pursue grants of $1,000 to $5,000.

Applicants should submit an online application and the grant advisory committee makes recommendation. The joint Initiative Foundation-Central Minnesota Community Foundation team makes final grant decisions. Award checks are mailed to recipients provided all required paperwork has been submitted.

The Rural Poverty Grants online application process is administered by the Central Minnesota Community Foundation. For more information, contact Jeanne Blonigen at 320-257-9715.
