Teen injured in two-vehicle crash Saturday

GLEN — The 16-year-old teen and her mom, who were injured in two-vehicle crash reported at 6:18 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of Highway 47 and 270th Street in Aitkin County, have been released from Riverwood Healthcare Center in Aitkin.

Emma G. Plagge of Aitkin and her mom, Marie E. Gordon, 46, were taken to Riverwood Healthcare Center in Aitkin for non-life threatening injuries.

The Minnesota State Patrol reported that a truck driven by Derek D. Simonson, 34, Aitkin, was traveling northbound on Highway 47, approaching 270th Street, south of Glen. He was following Plagge, who was driving a van northbound on Highway 47. Plagge was going to make a left turn onto 270th Street, when Simonson’s truck moved into the southbound lane to pass Plagge, as she was making her turn. The truck ran into the rear driver’s side of the van causing it to spin out of control and enter the ditch on the southbound side of Highway 47, the state patrol said.

Simonson and his passenger, Gina A. Isaacs, 31, Aitkin, and Plagge’s second passenger Taylor A. Bright, 16, Aitkin, were not injured.
