Brainerd Salvation Army members to assist in Rainy River area

Members of the Brainerd Salvation Army disaster team left to offer assistance for flooding in the Rainy Lake area in Koochiching County.

Rain continues to dampen the region this last week of spring. Summer officially begins Saturday.

Rain reports from the National Weather Service in Duluth as of Monday morning included:

• 1.45 inches Cass Lake.

• 1.34 inches International Falls.

• 1 inch Lake Hubert.

• .97 inches Nisswa.

• .90 inches East Gull Lake and Federal Dam.

• .89 inches Bena.

More thunderstorms are expected today through Thursday across central Minnesota with a slight risk of severe storms generally south of Highway 2 today and Wednesday. The main threat with these storms come from large hail and damaging winds, the weather service reported.

All of Crow Wing County, southern Cass and western Aitkin counties are in a flood advisory for rising rivers through 4:15 p.m. today. Emergency management reported high water in the Crow Wing River, as well as area streams and streams are causing minor flooding.

Several days of rain are working through the Crow Wing River system causing some minor flooding, the weather service reported. This area includes Crow Wing State Park. Additional rain is expected this week. Although the weather service reported conditions are expected to improve during the next 48 hours.
