Brainerd declares snow emergency

Lakes area Fourth of July round-up

The following is a list of events and activities celebrating the Fourth of July in the Brainerd lakes area.


Fourth of July

• Corn on the cob feed, noon, Friday, at the Brainerd Eagles club.

• Brainerd International Raceway's (BIR) 28th annual Show and Go is Friday through Sunday at BIR, north of Brainerd on Highway 371.

• Brainerd/Baxter Fourth of July parade begins at 4 p.m. and follows the traditional route. For a link to route online, go to

• Entertainment with Pop Rocks band in the Brainerd High School South Fifth Street parking lot. The winner of the Battle of the Bands will open the event between 5:30 p.m. and 5:45 p.m. with Pop Rocks performing at 6:45 p.m.

• Presentation of the flag and singing of the national anthem at 10 p.m. at the South Fifth Street stage.

• Fireworks are scheduled to begin at 10:15 p.m.

July 6

• 40th annual Arts in the Park at Gregory Park in north Brainerd. Artists and food vendors will be on hand from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Fourth of July

• 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. Flea market, craft fair and food vendors, Trailside Park.

• 10 a.m. Minnow races, Trailside Park.

• 10 a.m. Money in the Haystack, Trailside Park.

• 10:30 a.m. Kiddie Parade registration - Chamber building parking lot.

• 11 a.m. Kiddie Parade, Chamber building parking lot.

• Noon - Stars & Stripes Parade

• Fourth of July Celebration with parade at 11 a.m. on Friday.

The Crosby Fire Department sponsors this annual event each year on the Fourth of July.

• Join the crowd in the Crosby Memorial Park after the parade to enjoy live music, food vendors, a beer garden and other items of interest.

• End the day at dusk with a fireworks display by the Crosby Fire Department and its members.

Crosslake Celebrates America: 44th annual fireworks display on July 5.

• The fireworks display from Sand Island in Cross Lake begins at dusk.

Best viewing spots from land:

• From the bridge by The Wharf Restaurant on County Road 16.

• The beach at the Army Corps of Engineers Park in downtown Crosslake.

• From the dam in Crosslake next to the Army Corps of Engineers Park.

• Or launch your boat and watch the spectacular show from the water.

Fireworks show begins after dusk.


• 8-11 p.m. July 5, Live music, beverages, ice cream, fireworks at Ruttger's Bay Lake Lodge.


• The annual reading of the Declaration of Independence will be 9 a.m. Friday at the Fairfield Town Hall. Fairfield Town Hall is located approximately 15 miles north of Crosby or five miles south of Emily on Highway 6, just north of the intersection of State Highway 6 and County Road 36. Start your holiday by acknowledging the document that established our independence as a nation no longer under colonial rule. There will also be a short program of patriotic readings and music.
