Miss Minnesota to lead participants for Stroll for Epilepsy

Miss Minnesota Savannah Cole, whose platform is epilepsy awareness, is the honorary chair for the annual Stroll for Epilepsy.

The Epilepsy Foundation of Minnesota (EFMN) is hosting its annual Stroll for Epilepsy in five locations — Twin Cities, Duluth, Rochester, St. Cloud and Fargo/Moorhead — on Aug. 7. Cole will lead walkers in St. Paul at Phalen Park.

It's the largest fundraising/awareness event in Minnesota and North Dakota to benefit the 60,000 people with epilepsy in the community.

Stroll participants form teams and gather donations in an effort to raise $290,000 to support programs and services like Camp Oz, where youth with seizures can have a safe camping experience with 24/7 medical staff, support groups, free seizure education and more.

Celebrating its 60 years of service, the foundation reported it expects large crowd.

"This is one of our largest fundraising events of the year. It's inspiring to see teams rally around loved ones with seizures and meet others facing similar challenges," said EFMN Executive Director Vicki Kopplin.
