Educator of the Year named
Heidi Hahn, of Brainerd Public Schools and Paul Bunyan Educational Cooperative, was named Educator of the Year for 2015.
Employed with the Brainerd Public Schools for more than 22 years, she started out as a volleyball coach and mental health counselor and is currently the director of the Paul Bunyan Educational Cooperative. Hahn earned a doctorate in education administration and leadership, a masters in education, health and human development, and a bachelor's degree in child development and family science.
"We enjoy Heidi's calm and gentle manner, her undivided attention to the matter at hand, her keen intellect and the importance she grants to everybody's concern," Brainerd Public Schools Superintendent Bob Gross said in a release. "With this award, there is an opportunity for the community to learn about Heidi's impressive leadership skills. On a daily basis Heidi brings her impressive energy, enthusiasm and intellect to whatever challenges await her. In so doing, she serves our school district in ways that far exceed our expectations."
Hahn is affiliated with the Crow Wing County Child Protection Team, the Minnesota Administrators for Special Education, the Minnesota Association for School Administrators, the Minnesota Volleyball Coaches Association, the American Volleyball Coaches Association. Also, she is adjunct faculty for St. Cloud State University.
This honor will be awarded at the Distinguished Service Awards banquet on Oct. 29 at the NP Event Space and the public is invited to attend. Ticket information can be found at www.brainerdjaycees.com.
