Library to host honeybee discussion
The Brainerd Public Library will host a honeybee discussion at noon Thursday, Nov. 1, with Tara Stang from Mann Lake Ltd.
Stang will talk about how honeybees play a vital role in sustaining the planet's ecosystem and how they aid in the health of the human species and help supply us with food. She also will explain how to become a beekeeper, and what to expect during the first year of beekeeping.
Stang has been with Mann Lake Ltd. for more than two years and the company has been in business since 1983. Jack and Betty Thomas started the business from their garage and are now serving customers worldwide for their beekeeping needs. Mann Lake Ltd is based out of Hackensack.
The library also will celebrate pollinators with a pollinator exhibit resulting from the partnership between State Library Services and Minnesota Pollution Control Agency. The exhibit will highlight pollinators and steps we can all take to help them thrive.
The exhibit will be on display at the library from Oct. 30 to Nov. 12.
