Alcohol a factor in crash injuring 2

KATHIO TOWNSHIP—Two motorists suffered non-life-threatening injuries when a vehicle crashed into another at an intersection in Kathio Township in Mille Lacs County.

Mary Julie Sam was northbound on Highway 169 at Timber Trail Road about 10 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, in a 2004 Buick Sedan. As Sam waited for southbound traffic to clear to turn left, her vehicle was rear-ended by a 2003 Chevy Silverado driven by Keith Charles Anderson, the Minnesota State Patrol reported.

Anderson, 50, Baxter, was taken to Mille Lacs Health System. The state patrol reported alcohol was involved with Anderson. He was wearing a seat belt and his airbag deployed.

Sam was taken to Mille Lacs Health System. The 43-year-old from Onamia was also wearing a seat belt as was her passenger, 5-year-old Kiley Marie Solis from Onamia, who was, however, not injured, according to officials.
