Police blotter - Jan. 2
TACO-RELATED ARREST—A 51-year-old Brainerd woman was arrested Dec. 24 for an outstanding Crow Wing County warrant after a driving complaint was made on her vehicle for allegedly swerving over the centerline and fog line while traveling into Crosby on Highway 210 from Brainerd. Officers located the vehicle on Third Avenue Southwest and checked on the driver. The woman told officers that her tire was low and that she had been trying to eat a taco while driving.
ARRESTS—Officers arrested a 35-year-old Crosby woman Dec. 23 for disorderly conduct and an outstanding Crow Wing County warrant following a disturbance/ welfare check call at a residence on the 200 block of First Street Northeast. The woman was transported to Crow Wing County Jail, and police reports were to be submitted to the county attorney's office.
DECEASED—An officer responded Dec. 19 to a home on Third Avenue Northwest for a report of a deceased person there. The officer completed the necessary reports, contacted the Ramsey County Medical Examiner's office, and notified the person's next of kin.
CRIMINAL SEXUAL CONDUCT—Officers received a report Dec. 28 of criminal sexual conduct that occurred some years earlier. The suspect is known. Police received preliminary information. Officers are investigating.
SCAM—Officers received a report Dec. 20 of a scam wherein a resident was attempting to get a loan from a company found on the internet. The scammers advised the resident to purchase Green Dot money cards which then compromised the resident's checking account. A police report was generated with details
HAZMAT—Officers responded Dec. 22 to the 300 block of Third Avenue Northwest after receiving a request from the Crow Wing County Health Department to placard a residence for non-entry due to the presence of hazardous materials. In addition, officers issued paperwork/information to nearby residences advising them of the situation. A police report was generated and photos taken.
PIGEONS—An officer responded Dec. 22 to a residence on Third Avenue Northwest after receiving a report of pigeons entering a garage and eating garbage. The officer left a note for the homeowner to call the police department. A police report was started.
ENDING BAMBI'S SUFFERING—An officer was flagged down Dec. 26 by a citizen who reported an injured deer on County Highway 31 north of Crosby. The officer responded, located the deer, dispatched it, and dragged it off of the roadway.
AUTO CRASH—An officer responded Dec. 30 to a two-vehicle crash on First Street Southwest and Second Avenue Southwest. The officer obtained driver and vehicle information, took photographs of moderate damage to both vehicles, and completed the necessary paperwork. No injuries were reported. A state accident report was to be filed.
