Victim identified in Riverton shooting
RIVERTON — The name of the 57-year-old Riverton man who died Thursday of an apparent gunshot wound at a home on Main Street in Riverton has been released by the Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Department.
The victim was identified Saturday as Stanley Byron King.
Officers from Crow Wing County and the Crosby Police Department at 9:04 p.m. Thursday responded to the residence in Riverton and found King dead of an apparent gunshot wound.
An investigation began and officers tracked the 15-year-old suspect to a laundromat in Crosby, taking him into custody there. The juvenile male was charged with second-degree intentional murder during a detention hearing in Crow Wing County District Court Friday.
Investigators with the sheriff’s office, the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office are continuing the investigation.
Since the suspect is under the age of 16, no other information in the case, including the court petition detailing the charge against the suspect, is available to the public.
Crow Wing County Sheriff Todd Dahl said no other information about the shooting was available on Sunday afternoon.
