Brainerd man could face 20 years in prison
A 30-year-old Brainerd man was charged Friday in Crow Wing District Court with two counts of third-degree sale of a narcotic.
Bail was set for Daniel Allen Theien for $50,000 bail without conditions. Theien’s next court hearing will be 9 a.m. Nov. 20.
Theien could face a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison and/or a $250,000 fine.
According to the criminal complaint filed against Theien, on Aug. 2, a Lakes Area Drug Investigative Division informant purchased .3 grams of methamphetamine from Theien and another man in Brainerd. The informant threw the money into the man’s lap and both men stated the meth was in the Marlboro cigarette box on the dash. The informant stated that both men talked about “re-upping sometime soon,” meaning obtaining additional quantities of the controlled substance.
Theien was arrested on Oct. 3, when Baxter police responded to a disturbance on the 14000 block of Forest Drive where Theien was present.
