Gaby Haire, the 2015 Elks National Foundation Scholarship recipient, received an invitation from the Elks National Foundation to attend grand convention next summer as an Elks Scholar Leader. She will serve as a point person for a group of scholars throughout convention.

Jordan Kleist, 2015 Elks National Foundation Scholarship recipient, was recently accepted to the Elks Scholar Service Trip to Santa Monica, Jan. 7-13.

Morgan Rae Rohloff, Onamia High School senior, is Brainerd Elks Student of the Month for September. Future schooling includes attending The College of St Scholastica to major in music.

Daniel James Kientzle, Lake Region Christian School senior, is Brainerd Elks Student of the Month for October. Future aspirations include a career in the Republican Party.

Daniel has been at Lake Region Christian School since preschool.

Five local students have enrolled at the College of St. Benedict for the 2017-18 academic year: Rebecca Athman, daughter of Leon and Karen Athman, Pierz; Emma Bestul, daughter of Michael and Melissa Bestul, Brainerd; Ashley Bursch, daughter of Darren and Michelle Bursch, Brainerd; Sarah Thommes, daughter of Brian and Lois Thommes, Pierz; and Isabel Thompson, daughter of Jeanne Flint and Paul Thompson, Brainerd.

Five local students have enrolled at St. John's University for the 2017-18 academic year: Aden Davis, son of Greg and Jody Davis, Brainerd; Christopher Foster, son of Patrick and Terri Foster, Pequot Lakes; Theodore Knudson, son of Chad and Ginny Knudson; and Cameron Senica, son of Traci and Steve Senica, Nisswa.

Luke Norquist, Baxter, has enrolled at Carleton College as a member of the class of 2021.

The following students have been named to the summer 2017 Dean's List at The College of St. Scholastica in Duluth: Joseph Coalwell, Brainerd; Michael Cole, Pillager; Jackie Fredrickson, Baxter; Erich Heppner, Brainerd; Angela Hopkins, Pierz; Brett Jenkins, Brainerd; Whitney Kuechle, Backus; Jacob Mongan, Pine River; Kendra Petersen, Staples; Jackie Sullivan, Fort Ripley; and Abby Wing, Motley.

The University of Iowa welcomes the following students to the class of 2019: Madeline Waters, Brainerd; Damon Billington, Crosslake; and Austin Gessell, Little Falls.
