Nearly 10 hours of taped interviews in the making, Vote Brainerd Lakes is now up and running online.

The Brainerd Lakes Chamber, in partnership with Lakes Media Collaborative and sponsor Crow Wing Power, is pleased to announce that the Brainerd Lakes Area voter-education initiative is live at www.votebrainerdlakes.com. Interviews also are being broadcast on area public access television channels.

All registered Brainerd lakes area candidates in regional, school board and city races were asked to sit down for a 10-minute taped interview. These “Candid Conversations with Candidates” are being broadcast on CTC/Charter channels 8 and 15 from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesdays and Saturdays through Nov. 3. (Crosslake Communications Channel 12 will broadcast races that affect the Crosslake area throughout October.)

“These video interviews and candidate surveys are an effective way to learn about the candidate positions on issues, their priorities, and their personalities,” stated Lisa Paxton, chamber CEO.

The videos also are available on www.votebrainerdlakes.com. On the site, visitors also will find participating area candidates’ answers to a three-part written questionnaire.

“As a not-for-profit electric cooperative, we believe in the democratic process,” said Char Kinzer, manager of public relations for Crow Wing Power. “Our cooperative is owned by the members we serve – who vote to elect their board representatives.

“Please stay informed and exercise your right to vote on Nov. 6.”

The website also includes links to information on finding your polling location and hours, on registering to vote and on absentee voting. In addition, you will find links to other voter information resources, such as Lakeland Public Television’s debates between area legislative candidates.
