Hansen runs for Crow Wing recorder position

Deputy Recorder Doug Hansen of Nisswa filed Tuesday for the post of Crow Wing County recorder.

Hansen started working in the Crow Wing County Auditor’s Office in 2001, served as a geographic information specialist in the Land Services Department and was co-interim director of information technology before being named deputy recorder in August of 2013.

He said he’d like to continue the progress the department is making now leveraging technology to make the office’s process more efficient. This, he said, results in better customer service and is fiscally responsible.

A graduate of the University of Wisconsin — Stevens Point, he earned a bachelor’s degree in 1999. He is also a graduate of the Brainerd Lakes Chamber’s Lakes Area Leadership program. Hansen served on the Brainerd Main Street Advisory Committee, chairing the Downtown Brainerd Design Subcommittee. He has been involved with the county’s Lean Continuous Improvement Process, which looks for further efficiencies in the work process.

Hansen, 39, lives in Nisswa with his wife and two children. He is a youth baseball coach in Nisswa.

The candidate said he wants to continue to collaborate with other county offices in the future.

Crow Wing County Recorder Kathy Ludenia announced earlier she would not run for re-election.
