How many times this season have you heard DNR warnings against driving on thin ice? Larry Stiffler, DNR fisheries employee from Akeley, heard but didn't heed. The DNR truck he was driving went down in 12 feet of water off Sandy Point in Leech Lake.

Brainerd High School swimmers took top honors in four of 10 events but were unable to prevent Fergus Falls from claiming the first Warrior Holiday Relay Meet. Brainerd was victorious in the 800 free relay, 200 free relay, diving relay and 400 free relay.

From a group of 12 of Brainerd's most beautiful girls, judges representing the Jaycees will select a Miss Brainerd of 1951. The girls will be guests at a dinner at Van's Café hosted by Bill Van Essen, chairman of the contest committee.

William Bleging, the trouble man of the Northwestern Telephone Co., went to Pillager to repair wires. The cold snap has caused some phones in Southeast Brainerd to act in an obstreperous manner.
