20 years ago (1991)

The Brainerd Warrior swim team won 11 of 12 events and swamped Rocori 125-59. Brainerd remained unbeaten at 3-0 in the CLC and 7-0 overall. Steve Kuepers won the 200 and 500-yard freestyle races, and Steve Piepgras the 100 free and 100 backstroke.

30 years ago (1981)

Bob Nystrom, a native of Brainerd, was recently hired as a staff pharmacist at Elvig Pharmacy in downtown Brainerd. John Pecarich recently joined Woodland Realty as a co-owner.

40 years ago (1971)

An attorney general's opinion that the State Health Department has legal authority to enforce the state fluoridation law, and that city officials are subject to criminal prosecution if they don't follow it, was referred by the council to water and light.

60 years ago (1951)

A. J. Dondelinger, president of Brainerd Baseball, Inc., reported that no officers were elected at the organization's stockholders meeting since only six showed up. Ballots will be mailed to the 90 stockholders so that greater representation can be achieved.

80 years ago (1931)

The newly incorporated Mills Motor Sales Co. has bought out the Walter Tyrholm Co., giving them possession of the building on S. 7th Street and the Ford agency. Henry Mills will run the Ford agency and garage; brother Stewart will continue to run Lively Auto.

100 years ago (1911)
